"I do feel sad for not being selected' told Saurav Ganguly here in Kolkata. Speaking to reporters in a private function gathering, the deposed Indian captain said "On present form, I find myself easily replacing many in the team but unfortunately, non-cricketing reasons have deprived me of a fair-trial. I am always willing to compete with anybody on merit, be it the senior-most or the youngest in the team." However, the Prince praised Mr.Pawar for his continued moral support and said "I fully believe Mr.Pawar. He has promised to ensure merit as the only criterion for selection. I hope the committee created for Selection reforms will make things happen early." The former skipper could not hide his disappointment for India's humiliating defeat and termed it very 'disturbing'.

What led to his ommission is a bigger irony than the ommission itself
The selectors and Greg were afraid of Saurav's good form so they ruthlessly pushed the former captain out of the team. They didn't want to be proven wrong and therefore resolved not to give a fair trial to Saurav.
Dravid has few debts (Captaincy) to pay to Greg and therefore the 'Dumb Dodo' can only keep quite.
Five Wise Men v/s Saurav
It is really pity that people who did nothing for the country are now deciding the fate of India's greatest captain and possibly greatest opener ever.

Is money spinning team selection
Perhaps it is the lack of corporate sponsorships that has cost Saurav dearly. Had he diverted his attention from Team India to personal wealth creation, he might have remained in the team just as Sachin is allowed to snore in the dressing room doing nothing. The master blaster is such a big brand that nobody can afford to remove him without permission of his heavyweight sponsors.

NOTE: No alligation, just personal observation!
Breaking News: Reliable sources within the Board and the team have revealed that Chappell has totally hijacked the management by his dubious blackmailing. He has warned the officials to give in to his personal demands of sacking Ganguly or the Australian will resign and make it a diplomatic issue between India and Australia. On the condition of non-disclosure of name, few prominent members of the team have expressed shock over the surprise sacking of their former captain and termed it a personal vendetta of Chappell. They want to break free from the clutches of Chappell but find it extremely difficult as the Board officials appear to have succumbed to Greg's pressure.
ALL MY OBSERVATIONS VINDICATED
Alarmed by my correct observation, ESPN-STAR SPORTS advised BCCI to grant TV Rights to ZEE for an eye-wash. Now, they have started showing captions during special cricket programmes to create moral pressure on Saurav to retire. Further, Ravi Shastri was deliberately kept out of the commentary team during the Test series.
Greg Chappell convinced Sachin that Saurav's successfull presence will put the 'Master' Blaster's place in danger. He was already unimpressed by his declined stardom inside the team as well as in the media which was getting largely dominated by a confident and roaring Saurav.
Anil Kumble was desperate to take revenge from Saurav who had to take a tough but wise decision to keep Jumbo out of playing eleven to accommodate Dinesh Mongia as 7th batsman. He pressurized fellow Bangalorian Dravid to keep Saurav out of the team throughout the one-dayers which happened to be prince's forte.
Saurav dedicated his full attention towards Team India and rarely did Ads etc. Result is there to be seen. Sachin is allowed to snore in the dressing room for plenty of matches thanx to the pressure over BCCI by his sponsors and corporates whose products and services are endorsed by him. On the other hand, Saurav didn't have too many corporate godfathers so got easily ousted by Dungarpur & Co.
Saurav's exclusion from the team during team celebrations over India's comprehensive victory was preplanned and directed by Chappell. His humiliation was a deliberate attempt to dent his confidence forever and force retirement.
There has been a major undercurrent of displeasure in the team over Chappell's vindictive and unreliable character. The way Chappell threw Ganguly out of the team after calling him a 'mentor' a day before has rather dented coach's cridibility. General feeling among the players is that Chappell feels highly insecure in Ganguly's presence due the strong emotional attachment and regard commanded by the former skipper. Now it is an open secret that it was the 'Divide & Rule' tactics of Chappell which resulted in Saurav's ouster. Perhaps Greg does not know even the literal meaning of 'dignity', 'reliability', 'love' and most importantly 'unity'. It is high time he realizes that sustainable strength grows by unifying the people and not by dividing them.
REAL CONTEST - GREG V/S TEAM INDIA
He is charging 78 Lacs per month for destroying India. Do we need him anymore or de we wish to repeat what happened 300 years ago. Kick him out of India at the earliest or his 'Divide & Rule' policy will vanish all possible hopes of World Cup, 2003. He has come with a mission to destroy Team India thereby ensuring Australia's supremacy. His innocent supporters have got carried away by successes against mediocre teams at Home Turf on self designed pitches. India got only three real tests at Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad and failed terribly on unfavorable pitches. If Saurav is said to have exercised one-man show, then he also built Team India and got us successes that we never dreamt of. He supported Yuvraj and other youngsters who where always opposed by Dungarpur & Company. Without Ganguly's support, Yuvraj and these youngsters would have vanished just as others did due to petty board politics. Read on with open mind at

GREG CHAPPELL----AN UNOFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY
OBSCENE CHAPPELL Click for Video Clip
The Australlian who believed in supremacy at all costs, the man who defamed the gentleman's game by 'under-arm' tactics has shown his Australian character again by pointing the middle finger in an obscene manner towards fans in Kolkata.
Now Chappell is trying to BEFOOL us by saying that he was attending his injured finger. Can he explain us the exercise he was doing while poking his hands out of the Bus window. Don't try to befool us Mr.Chappell. You have yourself punctured the balloon of your 'Conspiracy' against Saurav. You are down and out. Your countdown has begun. Run as fast as you can or 100 crore Indians will run you away.
I was extremely disappointed to see the Icon of courage' Mr.Sidhu succumbing to 'unethical' yet professional demand of NDTV to protect Chappell even at this juncture. I have a lot of respect for Mr.Sidhu and hope that he will soon come back on the path of truth.
The point to be noted here is that victimised Saurav maintained his dignity though being criticised and insulted throughout India by burning of effigies and indignified protests for a long period of time. On the other hand, Chappell could not handle protests in one city and ceased from maintaining his cool, forget dignity as it doesn't exist in him.
Thus, it can be easily concluded that as far as gentlemanship is concerned, Chappell stands nowhere in front of Saurav.
Reason for Defeat: Green Top Pitch or Incapability
Gentleman Rahul Dravid, as always accepted his and batsmen's mistake instead of charging the curator. Sehwag also admitted the truth. But amazingly, the so called cricket experts including the one who is known for 'sense of humour' charged the curator for the loss.
These people should be made to remember that Indian formidable batting line-up has been falling apart at Eden Gardens quite often against good bowling attack. Don't you remember the collapse in 2001 Test against Australia. But Mr. Dependable Dravid and Laxman later showed their class and character on the same pitch to script sensational victory. Who can forget the collapse in 2003 Tri-series final, 1996 World Cup and the 1993 Hero Cup Semi-final. Mr.Experts, these debacles happened on turning wickets. And what happened in Hyderabad one-dayer a week ago?
Technique: Saurav v/s STARS
Well, if Saurav is considered weak against Short-pitch stuff, what about Brian Lara who is termed 'horrible' by Geoffrey Boycott.
Sehwag has most idiotic foot-work, can't play the in-swingers specially if bowled by left armers.
Laxman leaves so much space between bat and pat and plays away from body.
Gautam Gambhir also plays away from body.
Gilchrist can never play an accurately bowled Yorker and plays so many cross batted shots.
Jayasurya, Sangakkara and Attapattu too can't play well bowled in-swingers.
And for god's sake, don't ask me to compare the credentials of J.P.Yadav with the 100-100s run getter.
Of-course, Dravid is great and that is why he is considered all-time best.
The motive of the above comparison is not to diminish the importance of these icons but to assert that even the best have some things worse and Saurav is no exception.
CONSPIRACY AGAINST SAURAV
v
Senior players who could not figure
in the ODI team due to bad fitness and fielding created misunderstanding and
rift between Greg and Saurav .
v
Greg Chappell is a dishonest person
and it was his and Ravi Shastri's combined (underarm) conspiracy supported by
Anil Kumble camp that led to the controversy and uproar against Saurav .
v
They deliberately sent Harsha
Bhogle to needle Saurav and make him reveal Greg’s demand of him stepping down
from captaincy.
v
Then, Greg tactically made a press
release clarifying the issue and thereby earned sympathy of Saurav ’s
opponents.
v
The last nail in the coffin was his
provocative e-mail that he deliberately leaked to his friends in the media who
in turn created waves of criticism for the greatest Indian Captain.
v
Media in India appears to be
immature and fails to stand on its own. It prefers to be popular and move along
the public mood rather than be true and correct.
v
Sponsors and advertisers
pressurized for replacement of Saurav by Dravid to raise the latter’s TRP
ratings.
v Ravi Shastri has been promised major role in the BCCI for aggressive campaign to remove Saurav.
v Another major instrument in the conspiracy was ESPN-STAR SPORTS who took the onus of instigating public uproar against Saurav.
v The deal made with the Sharad Pawar camp was that after ousting of Saurav thereby weakening Dalmia, the incoming BCCI ruling group will grant the TV Rights straightaway to ESPN-STAR.
v That is why ESPN-STAR's lobby in major news channels of the country rampaged innocent Indian's sentiments against Saurav. ZEE was deliberately left untouched by the lobby as the former was the competitor for the TV Rights.
v ESPN-STAR being of Australian origin joined hands with Chappell to turn the tables in Indian cricket scenario.
v Chappell has also been blackmailing BCCI to rule in his favour on ground of major legal and financial compulsions towards the Australian.
v Recent good performances at home on
placid tracks against a side that is known to set low performance targets while
traveling abroad is nothing special.
v
The same performance was expected
in anybody’s captaincy be it Saurav, Dravid, Sachin or Sehwag.
v
The real test will be there when
India travels to Pakistan next year. That tour is far-off and by then, Greg will
be able to strengthen his position and damage Saurav ’s career forever, which
happens to be his prime motive.
v
Now Chappell is taking revenge from
Saurav by influencing the selectors to keep Dada away from the team.
v
Greg wants to be the boss every
time and that is what led to the clash between him and Dada.
v
The former is a stubborn competitor
and wants supremacy by hook or by crook.
v
Greg wanted to be in the limelight
and he could achieve that by removing Saurav and cashing upon the home-advantage
for India against lollypop Sri Lankan bowling.
v
He has repeated his ‘under-arm’
tactics with the help of people like Ravi Shastri who forced India to so many
losses by his utterly selfish batting.
v
It is only pity that likes of Atul
Wasan, Ravi Shastri, Bedi and Raj Singh Dungarpur who contributed nothing to
Indian cricket can afford to criticize an international player of Saurav ’s
stature.
v
Atul rarely played for India.
v
Ravi Shastri was perhaps the only
Indian player whose dismissal was always cherished throughout India.
v
Bedi’s mental state has always
been under question and he even has the distinction of being the first Indian
captain to abort the pitch in fear of fast bawling.
v
Raj Singh Dungarpur opposed India
at the time of Mike Dennes controversy.
v
Kapil Dev was ignored deliberately
while constituting the review committee as the World Cup winner captain
supported Saurav.
v
John Buchanan, Steve Waugh and the
experts around the world immensely appreciated Saurav ’s inspirational
captaincy and way of handling youngsters.
v
Greatest Indian batsman, Sunil
Gawaskar also supported Saurav. In fact he was against a foreign coach.
v
Greg’s remarks on Dada’s fear
from fast bowling can be refuted by any knowledgeable cricketer around the world
since everybody knows that it was Saurav who started the tradition of dancing
down the track and hammering sixes off genuine fast bowlers.
v
It was Saurav who removed fear of
fast bowling from Indian batsmen by his sparkling stroke-play.
v
The best example was his thrilling
century against Australia in Brisbane after likes of Sachin and Dravid failed to
survive, issuing a spat on the face of Shane Warne who tried to frighten us of
‘chin-music’.
v
Further, he always insisted for
opening slot that is another evidence of his courage to face fast bowling.
v
Saurav, a true team man who
sacrificed his favorite position to make better use of Sehwag and always fought
for the youngsters like Yuvraj and Kaif, has been cruelly left out of the team.
v
Greg says Saurav did not encourage
the youngsters and shielded the senior players. Just compare the youngsters that
played under Master Blaster’s captaincy with those played under Saurav ’s
captaincy.
v
Sairaj Bahutule, Nilesh Kulkarni,
Vijay Bhardwaj, MSK Prasad, Sadagopan Ramesh, Doda Ganesh, T.Kumaran, Wasim
Jaffer, Jacob Martin and others who came in and played under Sachin’s
captaincy no longer figure as probables even.
v
Saurav brought in Kaif, Yuvraj,
Nehra, Zaheer, Harbhajan, Parthiv, Pathan and Sehwag. Most of them figured in
the World Cup team and still happen to be the backbone of the side. Saurav even
sacrificed his favorite opening slot for Sehwagat the cost of his personal
career.
v
If Saurav can be left out on ground
of bad form, how did Sachin, Sehwag and Yuvraj find their places that were
failing so consistently?
v
Saurav supported Yuvraj, Kaif,
Sehwag, Zaheer, Nehra and Harbhajan despite interventions and politics of BCCI
and the Maratha Lobby.
v
He was the first Indian captain to
show courage in playing with three fast bowlers.
v
He was the first Indian captain to
achieve victories in England, West Indies, South Africa and Pakistan after
decades of miserable performances.
v
He was the first Indian captain to
play with seven batsmen with Rahul as the wicket-keeper.
v
He was the first Indian captain to
raise voice against apartheid in international cricket.
v
Saurav was the first-ever ODI match
winner for India.
v
Saurav rectified the
over-dependence of India on Sachin and almost relieved the latter of the immense
pressure.
v
Saurav has hit 168 sixes, highest
by any Indian in ODIs compared to 27 by Dravid.
v
In absence of Zaheer and Harbhajan,
Saurav inspired Pathan, Balaji, Gawaskar and Parthiv to give wonderful
performances.
v
Saurav ignited the killer instinct
in Indian team contrary to the way our great Sachin Tendulkar stepped into the
field with lost belief.
v
Saurav instilled confidence in
Indian team to chase targets. Look at the magnificent chases India has achieved
and compare the contributions made by Saurav with Sachin and Dravid.
v
Saurav set the tone of the series
with the thrilling hundred at Brisbane.
v
Dalamia wanted transparency and
greater revenues for BCCI on telecast rights but Bindra & Co. and Shastri
were tilted towards ESPN-STAR.
v
Saurav didn’t allow regionalism
in team selection and looked for the best team while Shastri, Dungarpur and
Bindra wanted to break the so-called stranglehold of Bengal by removing Saurav.
v
Fact of the matter is that no
player from Bengal played for India under Saurav ’s
captaincy.
v
Prince of Calcutta though being the
captain, ran in for two times to be runner for Sachin in the Adelaide ODI. Can
you still call him a princely chap?
v
Are Sachin, Dravid and Sehwag
better fielders and runner between wickets than Saurav?
v
Is Sachin fitter than Saurav? The
former misses half of the matches played in a year due to injuries.
v
If Saurav is said to be misbehaved
and unprofessional, what will one comment on our great Sachin Tendulkar who
openly criticized Dravid in media when the latter declared the innings in Multan
Test leaving the master blaster at 194.
v
I think Ganguly needs to go to
County and display his talent as an explosive One-day batsman and cash upon the
attention of more professional British and world media. Saurav is still India's
best one-day opener even better than Sachin.
v
Also, he should release to the
media, the papers submitted to the committee proving his innocence. His cricket
career might be over now but he can still serve this game by becoming an
excellent coach, certainly better than Chappell.
v
So, I would suggest Saurav to go to
county cricket, prove his mettle and accept the coaching offers if made by
Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Kenya or West Indies and build a strong team for the 2007
World Cup.
v
However, I still hope that his
consistent good run in first-class cricket will push his case for selection in
the national team.
